Course description: 

This one day, physician-led course will educate the learner on the disgnosis and management of fetal growth restriction (FGR).  The course will review how FGR is defined and the important role of ultrasound in diagnosis and management of FGR.  The course will also cover different sonographic tools which are predictive of adverse perinatal outcomes in the setting of FGR.  The course will utilize uptodate research, evidence-based guidelines, and numerous ultrasound cases involving FGR. 

 

The course will discuss the utilization of different Philips ultrasound equipment including the EPIQ and Affiniti ultrasound systems and details areas where specific ultrasound transducers and features may aid in diagnosis.  Educational material will be presented in the form of detailed lectures as well as supervised hands-on scanning sessions as needed to demonstrate the capabilities of Philips ultrasound equipment.

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Define fetal growth restriction (FGR)
  • Acknowledge the role of fetal ultrasound in the diagnosis of FGR
  • Learn specific sonographic features predictive of adverse perinatal outcomes
  • Understand the latest research and evidence-based guidelines on the perinatal and ultrasound management of FGR
  • Discuss the short and long-term outcomes of FGR and infant’s diagnosed small-for-gestational age (SGA)
